Umbilical cord
The umbilical cord connects the foetus to the placenta. The cord contains blood vessels which carry supplies of food and oxygen from the mother’s body through the placenta to the foetus. When the baby is born, the umbilical cord is cut and and the navel is formed
Placenta
When the zygote has been implanted in the lining of the uterus, it seconds out tiny little roots into the lining of the uterus. The placenta, a mass of cell, develops from these roots. The placenta is attached to the wall of the uterus
